Our summer and term time breaks and activities service gives young carers a break from their caring role so that they can relax, have fun and meet other young carers. Young carers can also benefit from gaining a variety of skills, increasing their confidence and feeling supported by staff and their peers.
Carers Week 2018
11-17th June 2018 is Carers Week, during carers' week individuals and groups all over the UK are organising events to raise awareness about Carers and celebrate the good work Carers do. For more information about Carers' week visit: https://www.carersweek.org/
To celebrate our young carers we are having a "The Greatest Showman" themed event. Registered young carers and their families are welcome.
Last year we had a fun packed summer time table with many of our young carers taking part in a variety of activities such as arts and crafts sessions, kayaking, theatre trips, bike rides, martial arts workshops, orienteering and foot golf.
As well as these sessions we provided some practical sessions such as ‘Moving up’ a transition group aimed at Year 6’s who were starting Year 7 in secondary school in September. We also provided relaxation sessions throughout the summer.
Currently we are busy working on the 2018 Summer Activities time table, once this has been finalised information will be sent out in the post to registered young carers and their families.
Term Time Activities
Our 2018 term time activities will be starting in September, they will be delivered to groups aged, 5-8, 9-11, 12-15 and 16-18. We are currently working hard on our plans for these sessions and will be contacting registered young carers and their families with more information in August 2018.
