Breaks and Activities Service
Our summer and term time breaks and activities service gives young carers a break from their caring role so that they can relax, have fun and meet other young carers. Young carers can also benefit from gaining a variety of skills, increasing their confidence and feeling supported by staff and their peers.
THANK YOU to everyone who supported the Stride Out to the Lighthouse event on 1st September! We raised an amazing £500 thanks to your generosity! The funds will benefit young carers living in North Tyneside, by allowing us to organise activities giving them a break from home.
Term Time Activities
Our term time activities run all year round. We have a groups for 5-8s, 9-11s, 12-15s and 16-18 year olds. We also run targeted group work in response to issues raised by the young carers we work with.
For more information about our term time or school holiday activities contact our Breaks and Activities Coordinator : Laurie Doyle-Davies.
Last year we had a fun packed summer time table with many of our young carers taking part in a variety of activities such as arts and crafts sessions, kayaking, theatre trips, bike rides, martial arts workshops, orienteering and foot golf.
As well as these sessions we provided some practical sessions such as ‘Moving up’ a transition group aimed at Year 6’s who were starting Year 7 in secondary school in September. We also provided relaxation sessions throughout the summer.
